Ex Pat Health Care Questionnaire

Pamela Haddock Associates Ltd is a consultancy that specialises in care homes that provide nursing, residential and dementia care for older people.
We have over 16 years experience of care and will only work with providers that can prove they want to achieve quality in every aspect of care. We believe in a whole person approach, and that enabling people to be as independent as possible, for as long as possible, is the way to achieve this.

We were approached some time ago by a Cretan businessman who wants our help to set up some sort of care facility occupying property he already owns. It is in a beautiful waters edge location in southern Crete. His initial thoughts were to provide nursing care, but following a site visit by ourselves we felt the site had much greater potential.

We feel it could offer a range of facilities, starting with those who are concerned about getting older and want to move to a community that can offer peace of mind without the need for further moves if a need for care develops.

We envisage a range of different sized apartments with communal facilities (e.g. swimming pool, shop, library, etc), single and double en suited rooms for residential and nursing care and a variety of health related clinics held on site - chiropody, dentist, GP etc. Care would be accessed on a temporary basis or permanently, according to need.

We would plan to staff the facility with people who speak very good English, and anticipate that we would train British carers at our own care home in the UK.

When you decided to move to Crete did you consider whether you would stay in Crete or return to the UK if you became infirm as you got older?
